Old School Dungeon Crawl Map Builder
A downloadable tool
Have you ever wanted to make a dungeon-crawling RPG, but don't know how to make one from scratch? Or maybe you tried making one with the help of various RPG Maker plugins, for example, only to find them lacking?
Currently in development is a framework for making old-school dungeon crawlers with GameMaker Studio, with comprehensive and clearly-written documentation on the included code and clear instructions on what needs to be done for any changes to suit the needs of a given project. The framework will primarily be set up for games in the style of the Madou Monogatari games, but will have simple, toggleable options for the game to bear more resemblance to something more in-line with the likes of Shin Megami Tensei or the original Phantasy Star.
The framework is still early in development and has a ways to go before it can be shared.
That being said, this tool will help with the first step, creating dungeon maps.
This tool provides a simple, intuitive, and flexible interface for creating the basic layout for maps that are compatible with the framework and can be saved and loaded locally. Create them, save them, and have them ready to go on day one of the framework's release!
NOTE: The only dungeon features that can be placed with this tool are walls and doors. As work on the framework continues, should it be more convenient to use the tool for placing other features, such as stairs, switches, and traps, the tool will be updated to include them. The framework is still very early in development!

This still alive?
Yes, it is. Development has not been as steady or consistant as I'd like for multiple reasons ranging from distressingly mundane (I have a full-time job that isn't this or any other creative project) to the deeply personal, but I still have every intention to continue seeing the project to fruition.
That being said, one thing you must understand is that the tool available for download on this page is not and will never be the entire dungeon-crawler maker. It is solely for creating dungeon layouts that will be transferable to the maker itself, when the day finally arrives that I can post that for people to use.
Please understand.
Thanks for responding.
